LSBEFD Inspector/Investigator 

The opening for an Inspector/Investigator position for the Louisiana State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors centers on statewide inspections and regulatory compliance for funeral establishments and crematories in Louisiana. The Inspector/Investigator ensures adherence to Louisiana laws governing funeral service (La. R.S. 37:831–884) and rules ( LAC Title 46 Professional and Occupational Standards Part XXXVII. Embalmers and Funeral Directors) and may also support complaint investigations.

Key Responsibilities

•          Conduct routine inspections of funeral establishments and crematories

•          Verify compliance with state laws, rules, and regulations.

•          Assist with investigations related to complaints or regulatory issues.

•          Prepare clear, complete inspection and investigation reports.

•          Maintain effective working relationships with funeral establishment and crematory professionals and the public.

•          Independently manage daily schedules.

Minimum Qualifications

•          Active Louisiana dual license as an Embalmer and Funeral Director.

•          Minimum 5-year licensed experience; funeral establishment management experience preferred.

•          Strong knowledge of Louisiana funeral service laws and regulations, with knowledge of the cremation process.

•          Ability to travel extensively (80% routine travel 60% overnight).

•          Strong communication, documentation, organizational skills, with robust computer technology knowledge.

•          Ability to work independently and professionally with industry licensees and stakeholders.

Compensation & Benefits

•          Salary: To be determined. (eligible for LASERS retirement and OGB health insurance with optional dental/vision)

•          Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.

•          Equipment Provided: Vehicle for travel, cell phone, computer/tablet.

•          Supervision: Reports directly to the Executive Director.

We are currently seeking a full-time Funeral Director and/or Embalmer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, professional, and proficient in all aspects of funeral directing and embalming.

EMBALMER/FUNERAL DIRECTOR 

Thibodaux Funeral Home, Landry's Funeral Home, and Samart Funeral Home of Houma are owned by a local family living in the area which they serve.

The Thibodaux / Houma area is a laid-back community with many traditions among its citizens. The area is only an hour to New Orleans and an hour and half to Baton Rouge allowing for quick day trips. Our area is full of activities, from shopping and dining to fishing and hunting, there is always something to do.

Privately owned funeral home with multiple locations is in search of a full-time funeral director/embalmer in the Thibodaux/Houma region. Must be proficient in all aspects of funeral directing.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Arrange burial and cremation services
  • Conduct funerals, memorial, and other types of services
  • Prepare deceased for identification, cremation, viewings, and burials
  • Must be proficient in all aspect of deceased care
  • Perform “On-Call” duties as needed.
  • Responsible for all paperwork necessary to complete an arrangement
  • Secure payment for arranged services
  • Consult with families on pre-needs and at-needs to ensure they are informed of all options offered
  • Perform any other duties assigned as needed in funeral home.

Requirements

  • Must hold a Louisiana Funeral Director or a Louisiana Funeral Director and Embalmer license or be able to transfer license to Louisiana from out of state
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Must past drug screen
